Fantasy Football Auction Buy or Sell:
Cowboys Beat: RB Lance Dunbar could be X factor
I wonder how much of an X factor Lance Dunbar will be against the Giants. He has made a tremendous recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and torn patellar tendon suffered Week 4 last season in order to be ready for Week 1 this season.
Dunbar did not play in the preseason, but he has been back to practice for two weeks. He said he feels fine and as explosive as he was before the injury.
The story pointed out in last year’s season opener against the Giants, Dunbar caught eight passes for 70 yards, including two for 40 yards on what was the Cowboys’ game-winning drive in the final minute. He was on quite a pace for catches last year before the injury and is certainly a name to monitor for PPR leagues, especially once he’s back up to game speed
Buy or Sell: Dunbar could be a serviceable flex option in PPR
Carroll: Team will be cautious with RB Thomas Rawls
Seahawks HC Pete Carroll reiterated that RB Thomas Rawls is the starter when healthy, but he was somewhat cautious when discussing his Week 1 role.
“We’re just making progress with him,” Carroll said. “You don’t want to rush him. This is his second preseason game in a sense, as far as relative to the other guys. So we’ll see how he does. I’d love for him to carry the ball quite a bit in this game, and then we’ll know where we stand going into the next week. It’s just really bringing him along properly and carefully. We want to make sure we take care of him.”
Later in the week, their respective roles might become clearer. But it’s also possible that the coaches need to see how Rawls looks early in the game against the Dolphins before determining how much they want to use him
Buy or Sell: Rawls is a must start this week-season long and DFS
Packers Beat: WR Jordy Nelson may struggle to play a full game
Last year, the Packers averaged 66 offensive plays per game. In Jordy Nelson’s last healthy season, he played 1,093 snaps — or 92.1 percent of the Packers’ total offensive plays. So under normal circumstances, a full game wouldn’t be out of the ordinary.
This, however, is far from normal for Nelson, who hasn’t played a down in a game since he tore the ACL in his right knee on Aug. 23, 2015. His return was further delayed by an issue with his left knee before training camp.Nelson suggested earlier this summer that the opener at Jacksonville would be especially taxing on his conditioning given the expected heat in Florida in early September.
This is probably causing a bit of a hit in Nelson’s ranking at least for Week 1, but the hope is his conditioning improves as the season goes on. Nelson should still be used in the red zone making him a solid play against the Jags.
Buy or Sell: Nelson will finish the year as a WR1
Gruden: ‘Intent’ is to have RB Matt Jones ready for Week 1
Source: CSN Mid-Atlantic
The Redskins’ starting running back participated in a practice in pads on Monday at Redskins Park. However, he wore a yellow jersey, indicating to other players that he should not be subject to any contact.
Gruden said that the “intent” is to have Jones ready for the Steelers and that how he fares during the heavier practices this week will go a long way towards seeing if he will be able to.
Fantasy football podcast Impact:
He said that he felt a bit rusty running plays at first but he got got going once he got warmed up, the story said about Jones’ first practice. Jones suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder during the Redskins’ preseason game against the Jets on August 19. Since then he has done only conditioning work during the portions of practices that have been open to the media. Rob Kelley is a potential backup if Jones can’t go in Week 1.
Buy or Sell: Kelley or even Thompson will outproduce Jones this year
Dolphins WR DeVante Parker has had injuries to both hamstrings
Source: Palm Beach Post
Dolphins HC Adam Gase said wide receiver DeVante Parker has actually had injuries to both hamstrings and he did not dispute the notion that Parker may not play this week. Gase has not decided who Miami’s third receiver would be.
“It’s tough,” Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill said Monday. “You’d like to have the guy on the field. He’s a heck of a talent.”
One option would be to move Jarvis Landry outside and utilize Jakeem Grantin the slot. Another option would be to use Dion Sims as a frequent in-line blocker and split tight end Jordan Cameron as a receiver. Newly signed Justin Hunter could be another option.
Buy or Sell: Parker will still put up at minimum WR3 numbers.
