Fantasy Football Auction Draft Trends 2017
Fantasy Football Auction trends are real, just like in a regular snake draft. If you follow our podcast or on Twitter, you know that we preach mock auctioning prior to your big fantasy football auction. As I write this article in early August, fantasy football auction trends will surely change before the season starts. Players will get hurt and others will shuffle up and down the depth charts through camp battles and pre-season play. Thus, this is a preliminary find and you should be mocking out several strategies.
Fantasy Football Auction Quarterbacks
At QB, people are still paying big money on QB, even after all the late round QB strategy that seems to be catching on. Rodgers will cost you $30+, followed by Brady at around $25+. Brees will run close to $20 and Luck will cost over $10, but after that the dollar value drops off significantly. Almost all of the rest of the QB’s average from $1-$6.
Fantasy Football Auction Running Backs
Running backs can get very pricey. DJ is averaging $68 and Bell $65, while Zeke is dropping slightly at $64 as his off-field indiscretions are starting to look like a suspension is imminent. Shady, Gordon and Howard are you next most expensive all running you $50+. Freeman, Ajayi and Murray are in the $40 range. After that it drops off and we can start to see some value. Crowell and Mixon are averaging $25+ and could produce quite nicely. Perhaps the real value can be found in RB’s under $10. Some of these names include Cook, Coleman, Kelley, Perkins, Abdullah, AP, Perine, Henry, Woodhead and oodles more. In my opinion, you either go studs and duds at RB, or go cheap and buy guys with high upside (and starting) and spend your money elsewhere.
