We love Fantasy Football, and if you are here reading this, you do too! You are not alone. Lots of celebrities play this game we love. My quest is to get to those with fame, those we look up to, and those who play our favourite past-time. So this will be an ongoing blog post. As I get more and more interviews, I will post more and more on our site. So stay tuned.
I interviewed Mr. Kaplan regarding fantasy football:
Uncle Bucketts: Mr. Kaplin – What is it about Fantasy Football that you truly love?
Mr. Kaplan: First and foremost I love the camaraderie. I only have fun playing when I’m playing with a group of guys I talk to on a regular basis. The trash talking, the competition, I love all of it.
I also love the flow of the Fantasy Football Season. Tuesday and Wednesday is for waiver wire. Thurs and Fri is for tinkering line ups and trying to improve your team through trade. Sat is info day…trying to make sure you man the best team possible and Sunday and Monday are for football!!!
Finally, I love that it expands the NFL for me. I used to only get excited about Giants games…now I can get into any game. Makes going out and watching the games with friends at the local bars that much more fun.
Also, winning, gotta love winning.
I have to agree with him – playing with the guys is probably the #1 reason we all play this game. Who doesn’t love texting and tweeting buddies on Sunday and Monday when you team is crushing your buddy’s bunch of loser he calls a team?
I had never really given it that much though, but Mr. Kaplan is so right when he talks about the flow of the week. I love that too! The routine that becomes day to day musings of fantasy football is awesome. The ebb and flow of the week creates continuity and consistency to the cold winter weeks as you look forward to injury reports, waiver wire moves, match-ups and travel schedules which all culminates in the climax (ya I said it) that is Sunday Football!
Expansion of the game of football is a huge one for me. When you are a Cowboys fan, it’s tough trying to cheer for the ‘boys week in week out. But cheering for my fantasy roster and not really caring about the outcome of the games but on things like red zone touches makes my knowledge of all teams, divisions and conferences so much more important than another Cowboys loss in the 4th quarter.
I would like to thank Mr. Kaplan for taking the time to talk to me and tell me all the things he loves about fantasy football.
Please leave a comment below and let me know why you play fantasy football.
Stay tuned – Part 2 of this series is my interview with Nathan Zegura of CBS Sports.
